Track and Field
The first Senior League meeting took place at Rotherham on Saturday. The club came 4th in a closely contested fixture, finishing just 15 points behind the meeting winners Sheffield and Dearne AC.
Some of our junior middle distanced runners ran PBs at British Milers Club meetings. At Leeds on Thursday in heavy rain, Joe O’Brien (8.43.77), Gianluca Mastrolonardo (9.18.15) and Charlotte Mason (9.55.69) all ran PBs over 3000m. On Sunday at Leigh Joe ran another PB this time over 1500m (4.01.85) with sister Izzi also running a PB over 1500m steeplechase (5.21.70). Tommy Shaw with 8.59.29 over 3000m and Jessica Robertson-Dover with 5.45.13 over 1500m steeplechase also ran.
Off Track Distance Races
Katy Wood was the leading runner in the latest 5k race on the York University cycle circuit as she came 2nd in 17.15. This is the third quickest time ever by a City of York runner over the distance. Ben Thompson (19.10), Danny Figg (19.16), Mike Raynes (19.49), Harrison Jones (20.49) and Karen Wood (23.00) also ran.
James Tucker ran a PB of 32.53 in the Valentine’s 10k on Sunday.
Oliver Wright (7.05) and Emily Rycroft (7.44) both had first places in the York Junior Parkrun which is currently for under 11s only. Hannah Lovett came 2nd in 8.21.
