Weekly Report – w/e 6th June – Includes first YDL Lower Meeting

On Saturday 5th June CoYAC’s younger athletes competed in the YDL in York against Gateshead Harriers AC, Harrogate Harriers AC, Kingston Upon Hull AC, Leeds City AC and Spenborough & District AC.

Once again the U13’s and U15’s had not competed for some time in this competition and for many of the U13’s, it was their first taste of competitive athletics.

CoYAC were dominant throughout and comfortably won the fixture with some fantastic performances in the sunshine.

U15 Notable performances:

Lewis Rutter 10.89m PB in the U15 boys shot put; Freya Vidal 12.68 PB in the U15 girls 100m; The U15 girls 4x100m relay team (Esme Pounder, Emily Maude, Grace Green-Hemmings, Freya Vidal) broke a 16 year-old club record with a time of 50.08. The U15 girls 4x300m relay team also broke the club record which has remained for 7 years. The team of Imogen Barrett, Kiri Shaw, Kathryn Clague and Ella Wright recorded a time of 3:05.64.

U13 Notable performances:

Daniel Campbell (3:59.74) and Charlie Blades (4:09.40) in the U13 boys 1200m. Daniel’s time was an agonising half a second outside Alex Botterill’s club record. Archie Wright in the U13 boys javelin broke his own club record by over a metre with a throw of 32.96m to establish him once again at the top of the UK rankings. Lucy Gilbertson (4:03.11) and Isobel Madden (4:10.40) also excelled in the U13 girls 1200m.

‘Off Track’ Distance Races

George Phillips ran 31.42 in the Northampton 10k, which was a big personal best time. This puts George 3rd on the all time club 10k road race rankings.

Hannah Lovett was once again the fastest female runner in the York Junior Parkrun with a time of 8.23.
