Weekly round up – w/e 26th September

Track and Field

A small group went to the end of season Combined Events at Trafford. A very pleasant meeting

Grace Gannon finish a very good 3rd in the U17, with pbs in the 200, javelin and 800, and consistent placings across all 7 events.

The Under 13s are learning combined events, and Lucy Gilbertson was 9th, Carys Francis 13th, Annabelle Coxon 14th out of 26. They ran particularly well in the hurdles, an event they have worked hard on, and Lucy set a pb in the 800 at the end of a long day.

Off Track Distance Races

A group of juniors took their long training run to the Bramham Park Fun Run, in lovely surroundings clean and quiet so soon after the Leeds Festival, and very well organised. Advertised as 5k, was about 5.34k

Our trained athletes, despite being young, did “dominate”. Under 11 Ollie Wright won in 20.47 (equivalent to about 19.15 for a 5k trail run), then Miles Watson 3rd and Conal Cairns 4th. Followed by a rush of our girls – Kate Setchell first lady, Sophia Horsfall-Samb 2nd, Hannah Lovett 3rd, Georgia Bell and Katie-anne Varga 5th together, Emily Lawrence 11th, Isla Callard 12th

Dave Lancaster was the first over 60 in the tough Keswick half marathon in 1.44.13.

Six of our members did parkrun this weekend. William Keens came 2nd at Easingwold in 18.16 whilst Daniel Campbell came 1st in the York Junior Parkrun in 7.10.
