Weekly Round up — w/e 24th October – includes North of England Cross Country Relays

Off Track Distance Races

The Club had a great day at the North of England Cross Country Relays that were held at Graves Park in Sheffield. The Under 15 girls team came 2nd. Lottie Langan ran a good opening leg to come in 2nd in a time of 7.24 for the 2k leg. Langan’s time was eventually the 2nd fastest of the day. Although a very strong Rotherham Harriers team went past on the 2nd leg to win the event, Sophie Robertson-Dover and Katarina Savkovic ensured the club took home the silver medals. The B team came 13th in the same race. The club had teams in both under 13 races with the boy’s team narrowly missing out on a medal in 4th pace with the girl’s A team coming 7th with the B team coming 16th

Angus McMillan continued his great form in the senior men’s relay by leading the field home on the 1st leg as he covered the 2 mile circuit in a time of 9.50. McMillan’s time turned out to be the fastest leg of the day. Alex Dickinson then ran well to keep the club in 2nd place on the 2nd leg before Mark Cage and Tim Stratton brought the club home in 5th place. The B team ran well to come 25th.

A few who hadn’t run at the Relay went to the NYSD at Redcar on Sunday, a flat and dry but bumpy course, quite hard to run on. Ollie Wright won the Under 11 Boys convincingly, and the girls all finished higher than last time with Hannah Lovett 2nd, Brodie Barrow 8th, Katie Lawrence 18th.  In the Under 13s, Tom Mitchell was 3rd, Kate Setchell 5th, Emily Lawrence 11th.

In road running news, Katy Wood broke the club 10k road record with 35.07 in this morning’s Leeds Abbey Dash. Charlotte Mason ran 35.43 and Karen Wood 46.13 in the same race. In Friday night’s 5k at the York University Cycle Circuit Ben Thompson ran 17.55 Ed Mezzetti 18.06 and Miles Watson 18.36.

The club had 5 runners doing parkrun this weekend. Emma Ballantyne came 1st at Pontefract in 19.58 whilst Mike Raynes was the fastest male runner from the club in 20.25 at Loughborough.
