The 3rd race in the West Yorkshire Cross Country League took place on Sunday at Wakefield. The course was a good one with a testing hill and some fast runnable sections on each lap. The club didn’t have as many runners as in the last race at Guiseley but there were still some good performances from our runners.
Senior Men – 3rd Team – Alex Dickinson led the club home in 10th place just ahead of Tommy Shaw who was 2nd under 20 and 13th overall. James Tucker (18th), Mark Cage (34th), Steve Asquith (41st), Ed Mezzetti (75th) and Mike Raynes (88th) also ran.
Senior Women – Katy Wood dominated the race from the start to win by nearly a minute. Holly Moss running the senior race for the first time came 20th whilst Karen Wood came 59th.
Under 17s – Ed Brown (5th) and Jessica Robertson-Dover (9th) were the only under 17s from the club to run as he came 5th.
Under 15 Boys – 1st Team – Another good performance from the under 15 boys tea with Isaac Stabler coming 2nd, William Keens 3rd, Isaac Bastow 6th and Miles Watson 22nd.
Under 15 Girls – 1st Team – Lottie Langan was a comfortable winner of the race with Amy Kennedy 4th. The club had an impressive 8 runners in this race with Sophie Robertson-Dover (10th), Katarina Savkovic (11th), Ellie Johnson (14th), Kaitling Keens (17th), Martha Sigsworth (18th) and Anna Proctor (43rd).
Under 13 Boys – Connal Cairns was the leading runner from the club in 10th place with Joshua Velding (19th) also running.
Under 13 Girls – 2nd Team – Lucy Gilbertson in 5th place led the team home with Isabel Madden (9th), Annabelle Coxon (16th) and Kate Setchell (20th) also running.
Under 11s – Ollie Wright easily won the race by nearly half a minute.
In the North Yorkshire and South Durham cross country league fixture that took place at Sunday at Croft Aimee Keefe won the under 13 girls race.
In other road races that took place over the weekend Ed Mezzetti ran 18.37 in the York University 5k series on Friday night whilst Dave Lancaster ran 73.03 in Sunday’s Tadcaster 10 mile race.
11 of our members did parkrun at the weekend with William Keens coming 1st at Easingwold in 17.46 and Zara Meaby coming first at Heslington in 20.48.
