Weekly round up – w/e 5th December includes the 2nd race in the PECO cross country league

Off Track distance races

21 juniors ran in the PECO Cross Country at Temple Newsam. A very hilly course, and good experience of a tougher course that we can’t offer in York! Good that so many of our newer / younger runners are willing to go out and race.

Our older girls were very dominant in the secondary schools age race, with Lottie Langan being first girl (and 4th overall), Amy Kennedy 2nd, Katarina Savkovic 5th and Ellie Johnson 6th. We had a good group of Under 13 girls not discouraged by running with the boys and the older girls, led by Lydia Scott 17th and Olivia Whiting 26th girl.

In the Primary age race, Ollie Wright was a clear winner, with James Bastow 14th. Sophia Horsfall-Samb and Hannah Lovett were same time as 6th and 7th girls.

Kate Setchell found an even tougher course in the NYSD at Hartlepool, very muddy, hilly, rough with a stream to cross, and finished a very good 6th.

Seven of our runners took part in the Leeds University Relays on Saturday at West Park. Sam Dickinson ran the fast leg of the day whilst it was good to see Martha Calton-Seal running again for her University team. Maurice Calton-Seal, Tim Stratton, Archie Lawson, James Tucker and Angharad Pryce also ran.

12 of our runners did parkrun on Saturday morning. Daniel Campbell was our fastest male parkrunner as he ran 18.18 on the Knavesmire finishing not far ahead of snooker legend Ronnie ‘The Rocket’ O’Sullivan who is a keen runner. Jessica Robertson-Dover was the fastest female parkrunner from the club as she narrowly failed to break the 20 minute barrier with 20.01 at Heslington. Isabel Madden was the first female across the line at Selby in a time of 21.48.
