Off Track distance running

Eight of our junior runners took part in the PECO cross country league that took place at Middleton Park in South Leeds on Sunday.

Lottie Langan achieved the very rare feat of a female athlete beating all the boys and girls in a mixed race. She is only the second girl in the history of the PECO league to achieve this rare achievement with the previous person (Annabel Mason) going on to get get a GB vest in the mountains and fells. Amy Kennedy was 2nd female in the same race with Katarina Savkovic (6th), Lydia Scott (15th) and Anna Proctor (22nd) also taking part. The only male runner from the club to run was Loic Clegg who came 14th in the boys category.

Hannah Lovett (4th) and Matilda Baxter (15th) ran in the under 11 race.

10 of our runners did parkruns on Saturday. Tommy Shaw was the star of the show as he ran 15.25 on the Knavesmire to break the course record for 15 to 17 year olds. James Tucker was just behind with 15.25. Ed Brown also ran a very good time of 16.30 but didn’t appear in the results because he didn’t present his bar code. Emma Ballantyne came 2nd at Pontefract in 20.07 whilst Steve Asquith came 3rd at Heslington in 17.06.
