Lottie Langan became the under 15 girls North of England cross country champion at a windswept Pontefract Racecourse last Saturday. Lottie made a late move to win the race as she finished just four seconds ahead of Rotherham’s Lilia Harris in a time of 15.28m for the 4.5k course. Backed up by Katarina Savkovic in 52nd, Sophie Robertson-Dover in 61st, Kaitlin Keens in 71st and Ellie Johnson in 74th, the team event the club came 7th in this race.

In the other junior races Daniel Campbell came 4th in the under 13 boy’s race as he missed out on a medal by just 4 seconds. Aimee Keefe in 8th place led the under 13 girl’s team to 6th place in the team event with Isabel Madden (32nd), Kate Setchell (46th) and Alana Reveley (85th) also counting for the team. Other juniors to run included William Keens (44th) and Isaac Morris (103rd) in the under 15 boys race, Jessica Robertson-Dover (39th) and Lucy Gaskin (85th) in the under 17 women’s race and Holly Moss (32nd) in the under 20 women’s event.

Angus McMillan, in his first ever race over 12k, came a very fine 4th in the senior men’s race as he covered the 13.3k course in 42.35m. Unfortunately the club was one short of completing a team. Other runners to run were Josh Breen (294th), Mike Raynes (361st), Ed Mezzetti (375th) and Dave Lancaster (420th). Led home by Katy Wood in 12th place and Charlotte Mason in 23rd the club’s senior women came a creditable 8th in the team event. Chrissie Dover (80th), Angharad Pryce (96th) and Therese Jansson (134th) also ran.

The club had winners in all three of York parkruns on Saturday as James Tucker came 1st on the Knavesmire in 16.37, Steve Asquith at Heslington in 18.00 and young Hannah Lovett at New Earswick in 23.50.
