Off Track Distance Races

A small and keen group of junior runners ignored the storm to go to the PECO Cross Country at Roundhay Park on Sunday morning. Although the worst of the wind and rain calmed for their race, it was still very muddy and wet. And they had to climb the Roundhay Park Hill (from the cricket field up to Soldiers Field for those who know it). We had some very good results, and all emerged cheerful and can be pleased with the achievement of choosing to run that and getting round well.

In the Primary Age race, Ollie Wright won for the 4th time, and naturally won the League. Hannah Lovett was 3rd girl, and 2nd in the League. And Sophia Horsfall-Samb was 6th.

In the Secondary Age race, William Keens was 2nd (first Under 15), Daniel Campbell 4th (first Under 13), and Ian Gaskin 8th in his first race for 2 years.

Kaitlin Keens was 2nd girl with a very good run, Kate Setchell was 8th (4th Under 13), with Liv Hardy, Holly Miller, Beth Ellerker all doing well to “conquer” the course.

Dave Lancaster was the 2nd Vet 60 in a time of 35.11

The club had 16 members doing parkrun over the weekend. Tim Stratton came 1st at Hyde Park in Leeds in a time of 16.34 with William Keens again coming 1st at Easingwold in 17.54. At Heslington James Tucker came 2nd in 16.38 as part of a tempo session whilst Sophie Robertson-Dover came 3rd in 20.26. Conal Cairns won the junior parkrun in 8.28.
