Off track distance races

Lottie Langan won a silver medal in the National Cross Country Championships that were held on Saturday at Parliament Hill in London. Lottie made a good start up the quarter mile climb at the start of the race as she established herself in the lead group. The diminutive Isabella Waugh from Rotherham pulled away on the first lap and had opened up a gap of 50 metres from Lottie with two other runners about 10 metres further back. Waugh continued to pull away on the second lap to win by around 100 metres with Lottie being caught by the two chasing runners. However, another effort on the downhill finish saw Lottie come home in 2nd place just two seconds ahead of Lilia Harris of Rotherham.

Other junior runners that took part include Martha Calton-Seal 24th in the under 20 race, with Nina Hopkins (154th) and Tom Mitchell (271st) running in the under 13 races. In the senior races Tim Stratton was the leading runner from the club in 223rd with Mike Raynes completing his 22nd ‘National’ came 1,268th. In the women’s race Angharad Pryce (284th) came just ahead of Therese Jansson (371st).

Katy Wood won the first 5k race in the York 5k series in a time of 16.48. Steve Asquith came 4th in 16.35 with Ed Mezzetti running 18.42

The club had a lot of runners taking part in the popular Snake Lane 10 race at Pocklington. Josh Breen, in training for the marathon training, led the club home in 61.31. Other runners who took part include Nick Elliott (67.47), Wesley Possible (67.51), Alex Boynton (69.44), Sam Hirst (73.37), Anna Cuthbertson (85.35), Sally Wade (85.36), Miyako Shimoji (86.29), Egla Bantia (86.52), James Richardson (87.07), Hannah Slevin (89.29), Altnay Smith (100.56), John Farrell (101.47) and Charlotte Hancock (114.07).

The club had 16 runners taking part in parkrun on Saturday. William Keens again won at Easingwold in 18.01. At Heslington Gianluca Mastrolonardo came 2nd in 16.02 with Jessica Robertson-Dover also coming 2nd in 19.03.

In fell running, Amy Kennedy came 2nd in the U17 Yorkshire Fell Running Championships.
