Track and Field
We held a very successful early season track meeting, with 100 of our own athletes and 80 from neighbouring clubs. Thank you to the regular officials, and to the parents who helped on the day. For many it was their first ever competition, or their first one since last summer, so a very useful experience for them. And it will greatly help us in raising teams for the League matches. Despite it being early in the season there were some very good performances from our more experienced athletes. Performance of the day (decade!!) must be Frances Hogg who ran on her own in the 300 hurdles, doing 44.73 a time which would have got 2nd in the English Schools last year! Other hurdlers were also very strong, with Emily Maude 11.8 well inside the English Schools Entry Standard, and Olivia Tweddle 12.09 a huge pb. Despite some missing through holidays etc, the club had 6 Under 13 girl and 6 Under 15 girl hurdlers inside the Po10 ranking standard of 14 seconds. Jessica Robertson-Dover had a huge pb in the steeplechase, a time which would have got 8th in English Schools.
Freya Vidal had English Schools Entry Standards in the 100 and 200. Other particularly promising performances were Edan Petrie 2m 05 and Josh Sandwell 2m 10 in the 800m, and Aaron Rutter 12.44 with the 6k shot, close to English Schools Entry in only his second competition with this weight.
