1st City of York 455 points, 2nd Kingdom Athletics 399 points, 3rd City of Sheffield & Dearne 342 points, 4th Gateshead Harriers 252 points, 5th Leeds City 248 points.
Above are the results from Sunday’s Youth Development League first round match at Woodburn Road, Sheffield.
Despite taking a small team of only 31 athletes to the fixture, we managed to win the competition by 56 points. Congratulations to all the athletes who took part and a big thank you to Parents, Grandparents and Officials for their support throughout the day.
The conditions were not great on the day with a very strong head wind limiting best performances. However, there were a few outstanding results.
Emily Maude jumped 5.46m in the long jump to claim first place in the U20 competition despite being in her first year as an U17 athlete. Emily also jumped 10.64m in her first ever triple jump competition to claim another first.
Isaac Henson and Bryce Farmer-Beasley both threw over 34m to win the A and B-string U17 discus events. Isaac also achieved a big PB in the Pole Vault, soaring to a height of 3.60m after only 11 weeks of training. Bryce also won the shot and hammer.
Freya Vidal ran an impressive 25.68 in the U17 200m for first place.
Kathryn Clague threw a PB of 11.34m in the U17 shot to finish first.
Maya Lindridge (U17) threw over 34m in the hammer and over 35m in the javelin for another two first place finishes.
The U17 girls relay team of Imogen Barrett, Sonya Chechik, Emily Maude and Freya Vidal ran animpressive 4x100m relay time of 50.36 in their first outing of the season.

Mark Cage missed his 3000m PB by less than 1 second in Sunday’s meeting in the West Yorkshire Track and Field League as he ran 9.18.01.
Off Track Distance Races
Six of the club’s runners did the latest race in the York University 5k series on Friday night. Daniel Campbell was the first junior in 17.35 whilst Brodie Barrow was the first junior girl in 24.56. Karen Wood was the first Vet 50 in 21.41 whilst Miles Watson (19.20), Daniel Kennedy (20.07) and Lucy Gaskin (20.17) also took part.
The club had 13 runners taking part in parkrun over the weekend. William Keens yet again came 1st at Easingwold in 18.21 with sister Kaitlin coming 2nd in 21.20. Wesley Possible had his first ever parkrun win in Finland with 20.08. Liv Hardy was 2nd girl at the York junior parkrun in 8.47.
