Track and Field
Results from Sunday’s Youth Development League second round match at our own track in York – 1st City of York 616 points, 2nd Kingdom Athletics 458 points, 3rd Gateshead Harriers 403 points, 4th Leeds City 320 points, 5th City of Sheffield & Dearne 293 points.
York dominated the competition from start to finish, winning by over 150 points. We have now won the opening two fixtures of this season and sit at the top of the table with 10 points. Kingdom are second with 8 points, Gateshead third with 5 points, Sheffield fourth with 4 points and Leeds are in fifth with 3 points. This means that we will definitely finish in the top three in our division and have therefore already qualified for the play-off match at our track on Sunday 7th August to compete against the best teams from the North-West Premier division. At the moment this looks like it will be Trafford, Sale and either Preston or Liverpool.
Congratulations to all the athletes who took part and a big thank you to Parents, Grandparents and Officials for their support throughout the day.
The conditions on the day were a bit mixed with the occasional shower and some blustery wind to contend with. However, there were a number of outstanding results and I counted 45 personal bests!
