Track and Field
This season’s opening Junior YDL meeting took place at our home track on Sunday the 7th May.
We were blessed with glorious sunshine for most of the day and the weather was not the only thing that didn’t disappoint…
Team members showed great bravery and commitment, with high scoring successes throughout the day and many athletes even stepped up to take part in new everts. It was inspiring to see each and every one dig deep to give it their best.
All City of York’s U13 and U15 athletes were fantastic; carrying the momentum from last year’s successes, our juniors topped the scoring with 614 points, 136 points clear of second place Harrogate Harriers.
The Junior team is next in action at Costello Stadium in Hull on Saturday the 3rd of June.
Road Running
5k road races are currently proving popular with our members as they act as a bridge between middle distance track racing and longer distance road and cross country racing. On Saturday good times were recorded at the Podium 5k races at Leicester by Katy Wood (16.51), Gianluca Mastrolonardo (15.01) and Mark Bolland-Cage (15.37).
17 of our members did parkrun over the weekend with another Keens sibling double first places at Easingwold. Josh Reid was the first runner across the line in Sunday’s York Junior parkrun with 8.08.
