Weekly Round up – w/e 18th June

Northern T&F League – East Premier Match 2 – Sheffield

After a great start to the season securing first place in match 1 of the Northern League, we continued into match 2 at Sheffield last Sunday 18th June.

After a muggy day we managed to avoid the rain until the last event. Due to everyone’s effort supporting the team we pulled through to secure the win by just 19pts.

The day consisted of 13 personal bests. Firstly, Sue Richardson moving her club record (V60) a couple more centimetres to 3.78m. More improvements in the field came from Louisa Birch breaking the 10m mark in the Triple Jump with 10.05m and Kathryn Clague with 9.30m. Kiri Shaw had a throw of 26.12m in the Hammer which is great for her first time with the 4kg. Adam Pearson improved his Long Jump to 5.38m. Fabian Vidal moved his mark to 9.01m in the Shot. Isaac Henson threw the Discus out to 31.22m, whilst Craig Pounder improved his Hammer throw to 23.84m. Onto the track Edan Petrie started the day off well by dipping under 60sec for the first time stopping the clock at 59.81. He went on to help the team out by running the 1500m for the first time finishing in 1st place in the B race with 4:29.85. Lucas Stabler has a great run with a strong finish in the 800m clocking 1:56.32. Rebecca Maltby had a good week of racing finishing up her week with a new 200m time of 29.60. Megan Ledden achieved her target in the 400m by running a strong time of 57.75.

It was great to see members old and new putting in some great performances to help the team and those returning from injury – I am glad to see you back fit and well. It’s farewell (for now) to Gabi Burton who is moving to the USA with work. Thank you for your commitment to the team this last 5 years. We all wish you well.

Officials, parents, and supporters a specials thanks goes to you too.

Match 3 is at Hull on Sunday 9th July.
