It was a really good day at Leigh Athletics track for the NMAC championships on Sunday. The weather was good for the most part and over 180 athletes took part, in combination with the Masters Grand Prix.
NMAC records were broken in 12 age group events notably the M70 men’s sprints with Steve Peters, the M65 100m and 200m World Champion in 2022, clocking a record 13.08 in the 100m and a windy 26.64 in the 200m in his first outing of the year.
Other notables included Michelle Vaughan and Sarah Hill both taking nearly a minute of the NMAC records for the 3000m in the W50 and W60 age groups respectively. Jennifer Ibbotson had a fantastic day in the W65 age group breaking records in the discus, hammer and javelin. Barry Kilby also broke the M75 javelin record.
Two COYAC athletes took part, Graham White coming second to Steve Peters in both the 100m and 200m M70 age group and Graham Wigley getting the best M60 time for the 100m in 13.76 and winning his heat of the 200m.
