Weekly Round up – w/e 22nd October

Track and Field

Three athletes went to the South Yorkshire Indoor at Sheffield. Imogen Bind in the Under 13, with her best result 5th in the Long Jump.

In the Under 15, Juliette Callau was 4th in the long jump with a pb of 4.36m and 10th in the 60m, and Juliette Macquin-Jones was 3rd in the 60m, 4th in the 200m, and 7th in the long jump.

Road Racing

Katy Wood broke her own 10k club road race record as she ran 34.04 in Sunday’s Leeds Abbey Dash. Charlotte Mason was also inside the old club record as she ran 34.14. Such is the standard of this race those times were only good enough for 9th and 10th place. Martha Calton-Seal ran her first race in 6 months as she ran 38.46. Allan Scott ran a PB of 37.50 whilst Karen Wood missed her own vet 55 club record by just one second with 44.17. In the junior 2k race Lydia Scott was 3rd female runner and 7th overall with 8.13.

To the disappointment of many Saturday’s Northern Cross Country Relays were cancelled on instruction from the Council due to Storm Babet. This was a blow to the club as we had a good senior men’s team to defend the title that the club won last year whilst we also had teams in all the junior age groups. 15 runners made up for this disappointment by doing parkrun instead. Mark Bolland-Cage won at Heslington in 16.21 with Tim Stratton coming 2nd at Hyde Park Leeds in 16.06. Sophie Robertson-Dover broke 20 minutes for the first time at parkrun as she came 3rd at Heslington in 19.46 with Beau Jamieson-Wannell also coming 3rd on the Knavesmire with 16.47. There was a junior age group win for Hannah Lovett and a veteran one for Dave Lancaster. In Sunday’s York junior parkrun Leo Forsdyke (8.00) and Noah Stipetic (8.18) came 1st and 2nd.

Cross Country Racing

James Bastow (U13B) and Charlie Fielding (U17M) both finished 2nd in their respective races at Sunday’s Cleethorpes open meeting.
