Cross Country Racing
The second race in the West Yorkshire Cross Country League took place at a muddy Thorne’s Park in Wakefield on Sunday.
Isaac Stabler came 2nd in the under 17 men’s race with William Keens coming 4th which ensured that the club took the team prize for this event. Sophie Robertson-Dover came 2nd in the under 17 women’s race as she finished 10 seconds behind Harrogate’s Niamh Robinson with the club coming 2nd team. Led home by Kate Setchell in 3rd the club had 6 girls in the top 13 in the under 15 girl’s race whilst Daniel Campbell came 5th in the under 15 boy’s race. In the under 13s races Ollie Wright came 4th and Hannah Lovett 9th.
Mark Bolland-Cage led home the club’s senior men’s team in 9th place as the club came 10th in the team race. Karen Wood came 2nd vet 55 in the senior women’s race with Therese Jansson (vet 35) and Peter Hanson (vet 55) also placing 4th in their veteran age group.
Road Racing
Steve Wright (40.23) and Dave Lancaster (42.46) were 2nd and 3rd vet 60s at Sunday’s Wistow 10k. Steve’s time also took 4 seconds off his own vet 60 club record.
11 members of the club did parkrun over the weekend. Will Hardy travelled all the way to Frankfurt in Germany, to go on holiday not to do the parkrun! and came 1st in 17.10. Charlotte Mason was 1st female and 2nd overall to her fiancé in Carlisle in 18.41. William Keens again won at Easingwold in 18.18 with Julie Mastrolonardo coming 3rd at Heslington in 21.30. There were junior age group wins for Liv Hardy and Bethany Ellerker and a veteran age group win for Dave Lancaster. Noah Stipetic came 3rd in the York junior parkrun in 8.16.
