Weekly round up – w/e 5th November

Cross Country Running

The club’s senior men’s team came a superb 8th place in Saturday’s National Cross Country Relays at a wet and muddy Berryhill Park in Mansfield. Angus McMillan ‘won’ the first of the four 5k legs in 14.56 a time that was the fastest leg of the day. Sam Dickinson (15.25) and Tim Stratton (16.27) held onto the lead on the next two legs. Unfortunately there was to be no fairytale ending on the last leg as Mark Bolland-Cage (17.24) couldn’t hold off the strong runners from other clubs as he bought the club home in 8th place.

There was also good performances from the club’s juniors teams. The under 20 men came 11th with the under 17 men’s teams coming 28th, 58th and 64th. In the junior girl’s competitions our under 17 team came 23rd, the under 15 teams came 16th and 66th and the under 13 team 25th.

Chrissie Dover was 1st women and 9th overall in the Chalkland Way 40 mile ultra race that started and finished in Pocklington and wound its way round the Garrowby estate. This was an astonishing performance just 10 weeks after breaking her ankle doing a similar ultra race on the North Yorkshire Moors.

Road Running

Andy Richardson ran 1.22.01 in the Guy Fawkes 10 miles race at Ripley.

9 of our members did parkrun on Saturday. There were junior age group wins for Lydia Scott, Bethany Ellerker and Josh Reid with Dave Lancaster, Jon Blake and Steve Wright getting veteran age group wins. Noah Stipetic and Bethany Ellerker both came 1st in the York Junior Parkrun.
