Cross Country Racing
On Saturday the third race in the West Yorkshire Cross Country League took place at Middleton Park in Leeds.
Tim Stratton had an excellent run in the senior men’s race as he came 2nd just over 100 metres behind the race winner, Leeds City’s Graham Rush. Mark Bolland-Cage continued his good start to the cross country season as he again finished in the top ten as he came 8th. In the senior women’s race Jessica Robertson – Dover (under 20) and Karen Wood (vet 55) both came 2nd in their age group.
The club had 11 runners taking part in the under 17 races. Lottie Langan had a comfortable win in the girl’s race with Sophie Robertson-Dover just being pipped into 3rd place by Harrogate’s Niamh Robinson. Charlie Fielding led the boy’s home in 4th place. In the team races the girls came 1st and the boys 2nd. Isobel Madden led home 8 girls from the club in the under 15 girl’s race as the club won the team race. Ollie Wright was a comfortable winner in the under 13 boy’s race whilst the under 13 girls’ came 3rd in the team race.
The York Schools cross country championships took place on Thursday. Aimee Keefe, Nina Hopkins and Hannah Lovett were the first three finishers in the junior girls race whilst Isabel Madden and Kate Setchell came 2nd and 3rd in the Intermediate girl’s race. In the boys races Ollie Wright won the junior race whilst Isaac Stabler, Daniel Campbell and Rowan Whittaker were the first three finishers in the intermediate race.
Road Racing
Josh Breen just missed out on breaking the hour mark in the Tadcaster 10 miles race as he ran 1.00.15. Peter Hanson (1.10.05) just finished ahead of Dave Lancaster (1.10.23).
The club had 11 runners doing parkrun over the weekend. Maurice Calton-Seal made his first ‘racing’ appearance for some time as he sped round Dalby Forest to win in 16.14. There were also wins for Charlotte Mason (18.17 at Roundhay Park) and Amy Kennedy (23.22 at Knaresborough). There were junior age group wins for Adam Pearson, Isla Watson and Josh Reid with a veteran age group win for Steve Wright. Noah Stipetic came 3rd in the York Junior Parkrun in 8.19.
