Weekly Round up – w/e 12th May

Track and Field

The club won many medals in the Yorkshire Track and Field Championships that were held over the weekend. Hopefully a full report will appear later in the week.

Angus McMillan ran 4.05.12 in the mile in a meeting in Oxford to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of Roger Bannister’s sub 4 minute mile.

Road Running

The 2nd race in the York 10k Road Race League took place at Pocklington last Tuesday on a new out and back course from Pocklington to Millington that was hilly with times being about a minute slower than in the first race at Tadcaster.

Charlotte Grieve (Mason) again came 1st in the women’s race in a time of 36.33 as she took another step to regain the series title that she won in 2022. Karen Wood again was comfortably the first vet 55 runner.

Michael Lambourne made his first appearance for the club in 4th place with a time of 35.11. Steve Wright and Jon Blake was 2nd and 4th vet 60s.

The next race in the League is at Easingwold in 2 weeks time on another undulating course.

Dave Lancaster was 2nd vet 65 in the Snowdonia Half Marathon on a very tough course that had steep hills and off road sections as the organisers wanted it to be just as tough as the race name sounded.

Chrissie Dover came 3rd lady and 16th overall in the Keswick to Barrow 60.5k ultra race in a time of 5 hours 40 minutes.

Parkrun

Dan Cheeseman came 1st in the Fountains Abbey parkrun in 15.52. There were junior age group wins for Wilson Moisey-Smith, Bethany Ellerker, Kaitlin Storrie and Rafael Palmer with veteran age group wins for Steve Wright and Dave Lancaster. Ted Elwell (7.30) and Jaxon Marshall (7.34) were the 1st two finishers in the York Junior Parkrun with Isla Watson being 2nd girl in 8.03.
