Firstly, a message of thanks to all who competed in the club’s Senior Track and Field team last Saturday, if your new to this league I hope you enjoyed yourselves. A huge thanks also goes to the officials and helpers, the day cannot go ahead without these committed individuals.

What a day we had for Match 1 on home soil. The sun was shining and as a team we did amazing finishing up in first place with 372.5pts followed by Leeds on 332pts.

Top performance of the day goes to the 4 x 400m relay ladies (Megan Ledden – 59.7, Chelsea Walker – 55.0, Katarina Savkovic – 59.6 & Sophie Robertson-Dover – 59.6) who smashed the club record taking the new time to 03:53.90 (previously 03:56.09). Well done to you!

Match 2 is Saturday 15th June hosted by Derby AC at Moorways Athletics Stadium.

YDL Lower – Sunday 19th May

A very big thank you and well done to all who came, took part and cheered at the second leg of the YDL lower at Doncaster on Sunday.
It was a really tough match to organise as we had a lot of last minute injuries and illnesses so thank you to all for bearing with us and being incredibly adaptable, with some athletes having a go at something they’d never done before, some even trying out on the day! As a result of this incredible team effort and all athletes being focused on doing their upmost best, we won! We are now in the lead overall ahead of Harrogate and hopefully will remain in the top spot across the next two matches and qualify for the final.
Special mention goes to the U15G 4×300 relay team (Imogen Brown, Nina Hopkins, Juliette Macquin-Jones, Sophia Horsfall-Samb) who broke the previous club record by 3s with a time of 2min57.2 potentially placing them 2nd fastest team in the UK after Bolton! Thank you also to the boys who stepped up literally at the last minute due to injuries for the relays, you worked amazingly as a team and took it on to organise yourselves, it was great to see your team spirit.

Middle distance

Katy Wood broke the club 10000m record in Saturday’s Night of the 10000m PB’s meeting that was held in Highgate, London. Katy’s time of 33.25.99 took 22 seconds off the previous record that was held by Katy.

Lottie Langan ran a very well judged race in the junior 800m races that were held at the same meeting as she ran a PB of 2.09.76.

Gianluca Mastrolonardo took nearly 5 seconds off his 1500m PB as he ran 3.54.92 in a Loughborough open meeting last Wednesday. Angus McMillan ran 3.48.33 in the same race. In Sunday’s Loughborough meeting Tommy Shaw (8.38.89) and Finnian Hutchinson (8.41.40) both ran in the 3000m.

15 runners from the club did parkrun over the weekend. William Keens came 1st at the Easingwold parkrun in 17.52. There were junior age group wins for Rafael Palmer, Wilson Moisey-Smith and Kaitlin Storrie with Veteran age group wins for Allan Scott and Dave Lancaster.
