Track and Field
The second meeting in the Northern Senior Track and Field League took place on Saturday in Derby. Thanks to everyone that competed or helped out. The weather was mad, one minute we needed umbrellas and waterproofs the next sunglasses and t-shirts. Despite a small team we did a good job to finish 4th, only 15pts behind 3rd place. Thanks for all chipping in, its hugely appreciated. The 3rd meeting is on Sunday July 14th at Moorways Stadium in Derby.
Match Report: YDL Lower Match at Rotherham 16/6/24
On Sunday, the City of York Athletes delivered a remarkable performance at the YDL match in Rotherham, securing a victory by 72 points. This achievement is even more impressive considering the number of unavailable athletes and the late changes to the lineup. The dedication and adaptability of our athletes truly shone through as many took on extra events outside their usual range, contributing to the team’s overall points.
The relays were particularly outstanding. Our teams claimed three 1st places, two 2nd places, and one 3rd place, reflecting their hard work and coordination.
Several athletes achieved amazing personal bests (PBs) during the match. These accomplishments are a testament to their hard work and dedication of the athletes, as well as their coaches, and they should be extremely proud of their efforts. Thank you to all the parents and guardians for bringing their children to the event and supporting the team and to the officials for ensuring the meeting was well organised.
We look forward to seeing everyone again in July for our next match on home turf in York. Let’s continue this momentum and aim for even greater success!
