Weekly Round up – w/e 4th August

Olympic Games

Well done to club member Sam Dickinson who won an Olympic bronze medal in this morning’s mixed relay triathlon. Sam joined forces with individual gold medalist Alex Yee, individual bronze medalist Beth Potter and Geogia Taylor-Brown to take part in the relay event that involves all competitors doing a 300m swim, 7.5k bike leg and 1.8k run.

Sam did the 3rd leg and his superb finish to the run on the 3rd leg gave Team GB a precious few seconds lead going into the last leg. Unfortunately the ultimate prize was not to be as the German and American teams closed down Beth Potter on the last leg before an incredible sprint for the line saw Great Britain pushed down to 3rd place in a photo finish.

Scott Lincoln threw 19.69m to come 12th in his heat in the shot putt. Unfortunately this was not enough to progress to the final.

Road Running

Michael Lambourne led home six runners from the club in the popular Run for All York 10k that took place on Sunday. Michael ran 34.16 with Jason Reudenheimer (35.14), William Keens (35.38), Jack Ford (36.30), Peter Hanson (42.26) and Kaitlin Keens (49.05) also taking part.

Parkrun

14 runners from the club did parkrun on Saturday. Dan Cheeseman won by 2 minutes at Darlington in 15.59 with Simon Bolland-Cage also coming 1st at Goole in 16.41. Jack Ford came 2nd on the Knavesmire in 17.23 before tackling the York 10k on the Sunday. Jessica Robertson-Dover came 3rd at Weymouth in 19.47. There were veteran age group wins for Dave Lancaster, Mike Raynes and Chrissie Dover with junior age group wins for Sophie Robertson-Dover and LivHardy.
