Track and Field
Katy Wood broke her own club record for 5000m as she ran 16.00.54 in the BMC meeting at Bury on Saturday. Megan Ledden ran 2.13.24 for 800m at the same meeting with James Tucker running 4.00.41 for the 1500m.
A group competed in the Northern Under 17, 15, 13 Championships at Derby. A difficult drive on the M1 (including delay for sheep on Motorway) and a very hot day – and long day for those having heats & finals or in multiple events.
Our only winner was Isobel Madden in the steeplechase. In the 1500m a great run and finish by Sam Dickinson gained 3rd, with Will Hardy a very good run in 5th in the hottest conditions.
Sprinters battled hard through the rounds, making a long day / weekend. A “breakthrough” event for Seb Goodridge to finish 3rd in the 100m, in a big pb, and Jack Pallister 5th in the 100 and the 200 both in pbs. And a great run for Ryan Mosey to finish 3rd in the 400m.
Beth Takieddine ran well to finish 4th in the 200m, after 3 rounds in the sun, with Lily Craske and Evelynne Coulson reaching the semi finals in both 100m and 200m, and placing well in these.
Lucy Gilbertson and Summer Barnard had great runs to finish 4th and 6th in the hurdles, and were 2nd and 4th in the high jump. And Lucy added 3rd in the 300 hurdles. Juliette Callau was 5th in a very high standard 75 hurdles.
Field medals were won by Zoe Bind, 3rd in triple jump, Louie Reid 3rd in discus and added 4th in hammer both in pbs. And Sophia Horsfall-Samb 2nd in javelin.
Other high placings were achieved by Annabel Fulford 6th in 300m after going through heats, Sophie Robertson-Dover 5th in 800, and Nina Hopkins a solo run to win the 1500m B race. Isabel Dalton 4th in long jump and Imogen Bind 5th in long jump.
Road Running
Jessica Robertson-Dover ran 18.41 and Carys Briggs 22.16 in the latest 5k race at York University on Friday.
Dave Lancaster was 1st vet 65 in a half marathon on the Isle of Man.
Parkrun
17 runners from the club did parkrun over the weekend. William Keens came 1st at Easingwold in 17.45 with Imogen Brown coming 2nd at Dalby Forest in 21.34. There was also a junior age group win for Isla Watson. Noah Stipetic came 2nd in the York Junior Parkrun.
