Track and Field
The England combined events championships took place this weekend at Eton. In the under 15 girls hexathlon Talia Northcott was 5th overall and 3rd in England with Carys Francis being 6th overall and 4th in England out of 22 girls taking part. Fantastic performances from both throughout the weekend and plenty more to come in the English Schools combined events in 5 weeks time.
The senior track and field team came 3rd in the final meeting of the Northern League on Saturday. This meant that they came 2nd in the overall league standings.
Katy Wood broke her second club record in a week as she took 13 seconds off her own 3000m club record as she ran 9.12.7 in the BMC meeting in Leeds on Thursday. Edan Petrie (3.57.08) and William Hardy (4.11.42) both ran PBs in the 1500m with Charlie Fielding (4.01.84), Ed Brown (4.30.12) and Lottie Langan (4.38.51) also running. In Sunday’s BMC meeting at Gateshead seven members ran the 800m with Rob Shipley (1.50.55), Archie Lawson (1.53.08), Cole McAndrew (1.55.75), Edan Petrie (1.57.34), Samuel Dickinson (1.59.21), William Hardy (2.01.06) and Dave Burlton (2.07.55).
Off Track Distance racing
Dan Cheeseman won the Sessay 6k road race that took place near Thirsk on Wednesday night. Dan won by about 50 metres in a time of 18.45.
Dave Lancaster came 18th male in the 6 races in 6 days challenge that involved a half marathon, a 10k, a mile race, a hill race, a tough 5 miler and a cross country race. He even book ended the event by doing two parkrun at either end to make it 8 races in 8 days.
Chrissie Dover did the 12hr night race Hell on the Humber on Saturday night which was held over 4 mile laps over the Humber bridge with the challenge being who can do the most in 12hrs! Chrissie did 16 laps, 64 miles, and was 1st lady, 3rd overall and broke the female course record by 8miles. Chrissie will now mostly be sleeping….and eating.
The club had 25 runners doing parkrun over the weekend which may be some sort of club record. There were 1st places for Simon Bolland-Cage (16.19 at the Knavesmire), Charlotte Grieve (18.39 at Roundhay) and William Keens (18.00 at Easingwold). Isobel Brown came 2nd at Dalby Forest in 20.28 with India Ibbotson coming 3rd at New Earswick with 23.43 and Mike Raynes with 21.10 at Kelso. There were junior age group wins for Lydia Scott, Sebastian Brown and Bethany Ellerker with veteran one for Dave Lancaster. Noah Stipetic was the 1st boy in the York Junior parkrun.
