Road Racing
Eight runners ran the latest 5k on the York University cycle circuit on Friday night. William Hardy ran 16.19, Oscar Walker 18.36, Lucy Davey 19.31, Nick Lovett 20.30, Carys Briggs 21.26, Isla Watson 22.41, Holly Miller 23.23 and Bethany Ellerker 25.15.
Ruth Hirst took a massive step up in distance from 400 metres running as she ran the Wetherby 10k on Sunday. Ruth ran 51.38 which was well inside her target time of 55 minutes.
Cross Country Racing
James Bastow ran in the re-arranged National Cross Country Championships on Saturday. Warm sunshine and bone dry underfoot conditions are a bit unusual for cross country but the English Cross Country Association was determined to stage its championships in 2024 after its normal February date got cancelled due to a water logged car park. James came 42nd in the under 13 race.
Parkrun
There was another big turn out from the club at parkrun as 26 members had a go over the weekend. There were 1st places for Dan Cheeseman (15.35 at Darlington), Gianluca Mastrolonardo (15.55 at the Knavesmire) Charlie Fielding (16.53 at Beverley) and Tim Pattison (18.09 at Fletcher Moss in Manchester). 2nd places for Lottie Langan (18.00 at the Knavesmire) and Juliet Horne (21.30 at Selby) with Steve Wright coming 3rd at New Earswick in 19.44. There were junior age group wind for Wilson Moisey-Smith, Bethany Ellerker and Rafael Palmer with veteran age group wins for Dave Lancaster and Jon Blake. Noah Stipetic and Marianne Lowson both came 1st in the York Junior parkrun with Josh Reid coming 2nd.
