Cross Country Racing
Angus McMillan narrowly missed out on selection for the Great Britain and Northern Ireland team in the European Cross Country Championships as he came 12th in the trial race that was held yesterday on a very muddy course in Sefton Park Liverpool. A top four finish would have guaranteed him a place in the six man team and although Angus moved through the field well after a fast start by the leaders Angus ended up just 30 seconds down on where he needed to be to make the team. The under 23s ran with the seniors but finished a lap early with Gianluca Mastrolonardo overhauling Tommy Shaw in the second half as they came 26th and 41st respectively with Archie Lawson not far behind in 52nd.
In the senior women’s race Katy Wood didn’t enjoy the muddy conditions as she came 25th with Ellie Rainbow coming 33rd in the under 23s race.
In the junior races Lottie Langan came 29th in the under 20 women’s race with Ed Brown coming 125th in the men’s equivalent. Hannah Lovett, running her first race in the UK Cross Challenge came 49th in the under 15 race.
