Weekly round up – w/e 8th December

Cross Country Racing

The Storm Darragh relented enough to allow the final race in the West Yorkshire Cross Country League to take place at Oulton near Leeds on Sunday.

The club’s senior women’s team completed a clean sweep in the team event as they were led home by Jessica Robertson-Dover in 4th and Ellie Rainbow in 5th. Chrissie Dover and Therese Jansson were 2nd in the vet 45 and 35 age groups respectively. Simon Bolland-Cage in 12th was the first home from the club in the senior men’s race with Jon Blake being 1st vet 60.

Beth Lewis comfortably won the under 15 girls race by 36 seconds as she led the club to a team win with James Bastow being 4th in the boys equivalent race. The club again dominated the under 17 races with team wins in both as Samuel Dickinson (3rd) and Sophie Robertson-Dover (4th) led both teams home. In the under 11 races Scarlett Byrcoft came 2nd in the under 11 race just ahead of Harper Newcombe in 4th with Luke Holden being 4th in the boys races.

The club won the senior women’s, under 17 mens and womens and under 15 girls team prizes for the overall series with had the following individual series prizes: First places: Jessica Robertson – Dover under 20, Beth Lewis under 15, Jon Blake vet 60. Second places: Therese Jansson vet 35, Chrissie Dover vet 45, Niamh McLoughlin 2nd senior and 3rd overall. Third places: Scarlett Bycroft under 11, Charlie Fielding under 17, Sophie Robertson-Dover under 17 and Julie Mastrolonardo vet 55.

Road Racing

Dave Lancaster was the first vet 65 in the Longbridge 7 miles race that took place in Birmingham. This is the third year in a row that Dave has had an age group win in this race.

Parkrun

Club 800m star Alex Botterill made a rare appearance at parkrun as he sped round the Knavesmire in 15.25. There were also first places for James Tucker (15.58) in Port Elizabeth, South Africa and closer to home at Easingwold for India Ibbotson (22.07). Allan Scott and Steve Wright had veteran age group wins with Bethany Ellerker getting a junior one. Noah Stipetic was 2nd at the York Junior parkrun.
