Indoor Track and Field

22 club members were in the North Yorkshire teams for the National Sportshall Athletics Final at Stoke. A huge event with nearly 300 athletes from all over the country, and some big counties take it very seriously. And a very high standard and very big athletes at the front end.

Our return of 4 medals was very good. Headed by North Yorkshire captain Lily Craske, who won the vertical jump, teamed with Florence Hodgkins in the paarlauf (pairs relay, the toughest race on the programme) to 3rd place, and was 7th out of 56 entrants in the All Rounder Championship. Fleur Farmer-Beasley was 3rd in the shot put, and the short relay team of Imogen Bind, Mathilda Townsend, Liliana Forshaw, Florence Meek ran brilliantly and baton changed brilliantly to get 2nd.  Other leading results were Esme Lee reaching the Final of the sprint, Florence Hodgkins 5th in the 4 lap race, Imogen Bind 4th in Standing Triple Jump, Nattida Chaibamrung 5th in speed bounce only 1 bounce behind a medal.

The Under 15 girls team of Lily Craske, Florence Hodgkins, Hannah Mappleback, Matilda Baxter, Sophia Savkovic (a brave last minute substitute) were North Yorkshires best team of the day in 6th.

A great experience for all ours to compete against some very good athletes and all battled really hard.

Our others in North Yorkshire team

Under 13 Girls – Esme Lee, Rosa Boxall, Willow Goor, Nattida Chaibamrung, Liliana Forshaw, Mathilda Townend, Fleur Farmer-Beasley, Imogen Bind, Florence Meek

Parkrun

There was another good turnout of over 20 runners from the club at parkrun over the weekend. William Keens came 1st, again, at Easingwold in 17.28 with Eve Standen (22.03) and Kaitlin Storrie (22.36) coming 2nd and 3rd females. Samuel Dickinson won at Selby in 16.54 with Simon Bolland-Cage coming 2nd on the Knavesmire in 16.03. There were veteran age group wins for Steve Wright, Dave Lancaster, Jon Blake and Peter Hanson with junior age group wins for Lucy Davey, Wilson Moisey-Smith and Juliet Horne.
