Off Track Distance Races

The Golden Acre Park Relays took place last Tuesday on a warm evening in North Leeds. This has been a popular event for the club in the past as runners enjoy taking part in a team event that doesn’t involve racing the clock.

The Club had the first women’s team across the line as Charlotte Mason, Jessica Robertson-Dover and Lottie Langan combined to finish ahead of Roundhay Runners by around 100m with Lottie taking the lead about a mile into the last leg. The junior girls team of Amy Kennedy, Katarina Savkovic and Sophie Robertson-Dover were the first junior girls team with the club’s junior girl’s B team being the 2nd club in this category.

The club had five other teams taking part with the junior boys team placing 3rd, The Men’s Vets teams being 11th and 12th, the Senior Women’s B team placing 13th and the Mixed team finishing 24th.

In the junior relay the ‘Older Girls’ and ‘Younger Boys’ both came 2nd.

Several club members ran 5k road races last week. Charlotte Mason came 4th in Doncaster last Wednesday in 17.00. Ed Mezzetti ran 18.10 on Friday in the York University 5k race. James Tucker (15.10) and Alex Dickinson (16.21) both took part in the Barrowfield 5k races on Saturday.

18 of our members took part in parkrun on Saturday. Mark Cage won at Goole in the joint 2nd fastest time ever on that course (16.21). He shares the 2nd place in the rankings with partner Simon Bolland. Maybe the two of the need to race each other to try and take top spot in the rankings which stands at 16.14. Steve Asquith again won at Heslington in 17.15 with Hannah Lovett (22.59) being 2nd female at this event. There were also 2nd places for Gianluca Mastrolonardo (15.59) at the Knavesmire and William Keens (18.17) at Easingwold.
