Weekly Round up – w/e 26th February

Track and Field

City of York AC Coach/athlete Harry Maslen finished a superb second in the UK Athletics Indoor Championship Men’s Heptathlon at the weekend. This followed up his third place finish at the England Athletics Indoor Heptathlon at the start of the year.

Harry had a fairly steady first day which left him in 6th place overnight. However, a really gutsy new personal best in the pole vault (4.74m) catapulted him up into second place, enabling him to secure a podium finish.

This weekend the club had two female athletes in the women’s 400m at the BUCS indoor championships. Charlotte Stamp represented York St John University with Lara Hansen wearing the colours of York University. There was a total of ten heats which then went down to four semis finals before the final. Lara ran 61.71 seconds, which was a PB to come 4th in her heat. Charlotte ran 57.29, a seasons best, to be placed 2nd in her heat, qualifying for the semis. In the semi final Charlotte ran another seasons PB of 57.14secs. for 3rd place.
