Weekly Round up – w/e 19th March

Road and Cross Country Races

There was action at both ends of the age spectrum in this week’s cross country racing as some of our junior runners took part in the English Schools Cross Country Championships whilst our veterans did the British Masters Championships.

On Saturday the club had a large contingent of 18 runners taking part in the prestigious English Schools Cross Country Championships at Wollaton Hall in Nottingham on a different course than that which is used for the Club National Clubs Cross Country Championships.

In the boys races the leading runner from the club was Gianluca Mastrolonardo who came 15th in the senior boys race with Ed Brown (146th), Charlie Wright (183rd) and Lucas Stabler (245th) also running this race. In the Intermediate Boys race the club had Isaac Stabler (32nd) and Beau Jamieson-Wannell (92nd) whilst in the Junior Boys race the club had Daniel Campbell (59th) and Daniel Kennedy (273rd) taking part.

Lottie Langan with 11th place was the leading runners from the club in the girls races as she came 11th in the Intermediate girls race with Amy Kennedy (119th) and Sophie Robertson-Dover (158th) also took part in this race. Jessica Robertson-Dover (80th) and Lucy Gaskin (227th) ran in the Senior Girl’s race whilst the club had 5 runners in the Junior Girl’s race with Aimee Keefe (121st), Isobel Madden (171st), Kate Setchell (191st), Emily Rycroft (266th) and Nina Hopkins (277th) all competing.

Also on Saturday, Chrissie Dover and Therese Jansson both came 4th in their age group at the British Masters Cross Country Championships that were held at Newcastle on Saturday. This is the second week in a row that Therese Jansson has finished 4th in a veterans cross country championships whilst Chrissie Dover had the misfortunate of having identical twins, Juliet and Jane Potter, taking the first two places in her age group.

On Sunday Dave Lancaster was the first Vet 65 at the Wakefield 10k in a time of 41.46.

14 runners from the club did parkrun over the weekend. Isaac Bastow came 3rd at Easingwold in 19.13. Liv Hardy was the only female runner from the club to do parkrun as she ran 24.04 at Heslington. Josh Reid came 2nd at the York Junior parkrun in 8.14 as he completed a parkrun double header as he also did the 5k parkrun on the Knavesmire on Saturday in 21.36.
