Weekly Round up – w/e 26th May

Track and Field

Several members took part in the BMC meeting in Trafford on Saturday. Angus McMillan (13.58.80), Katy Wood (16.20.69) and Tommy Shaw (15.32 75) ran in the 5000m. Gianluca Mastrolonardo (3.52.94) and James Tucker (3.53.65) both ran PBs in 1500m. Megan Ledden (2.13.31) ran a PB in the 800m with Lottie Langan (2.14.27) also taking on this distance.

Road Racing

The third race in the York 10k Road Race League took place on Tuesday night in Easingwold. The evening didn’t get off to the best of starts as one of our runners turned up without a race number whilst another didn’t have any running shorts. The joys of being a team manager!

All of this was forgotten as the race started in good running conditions which were overcast with no wind. Charlotte Grieve (Mason) was again a class apart in the women’s race as she won by nearly four minutes with a time of 36.04. Karen Wood was similarly dominant in the vet 55 category which she won by three and a half minutes. Both runners have three wins out of three with just one more win in the last three races needed to win the overall league titles.

Michael Lambourne was again at home on the hilly course as he led the club’s male runners home in 6th place with 34.46. Steve Wright, Dave Lancaster and Jon Blake all placed highly in the vet 60 age group as they came 2nd, 3rd and 5th respectively.

Having taken on some tough hilly courses the next race is on the very flat and fast Knavesmire course in two weeks time.

Dan Cheeseman made a rare appearance on the road as he came 2nd in Sunday’s Northallerton 10k in a time of 32.43.

Parkrun

20 members of the club did parkrun over the weekend. Charlotte Grieve came 1st female and 2nd overall in the Warwick parkrun with Imogen Brown coming 2nd at Dalby Forest in 22.54. There were junior age group wins for Noah Stipetic, Wilson Moisey-Smith, Sebastien Brown, James Bastow and Bethany Ellerker with veteran age group wins for Dave Lancaster and Steve Wright. Ted Elwell (7.25), Jaxon Marshall (7.26) and Josh Reid (8.03) were the first 3 runners across the line in the York Junior Parkrun.
