Track and Field
The North Yorkshire senior girl’s team qualified for the National combined events finals in Stoke in September with Frances Hogg coming 2nd (4766 pts) Emma Sedgwick and Esme Pounder 3rd (4579 pts). Grace Gannon also did her first Heptathlon for two years. Isaac Henson won the senior boys decathlon with a score of 6446 points. A fantastic performance with many PB’s.
A really strong team performance from the intermediate girls over the weekend with Lucy Gilbertson 4th (3992pts), Olivia Tweddle 7th (3830 points), Summer Barnard 11th (3151 points), Lily Johnson 12th (3052 points). Lucy qualifies for English Schools Combined Events finals with a score of 3992 points.
Junior girls. All 6 from city of York AC. 2 representing Humberside and 4 representing North Yorkshire. 6 girls in the top 11 of the 21 in the competition. The North Yorkshire team won and qualified for the National combined events finals in Stoke. Talia Northcott also qualified. Carys Francis 1st (3254 pts), Talia Northcott 2nd (3185 pts), Sophia Horsfall-Samb 7th (2620 pts), Holly Nash 8th (2518 pts), Juliette Macquin-Jones 9th (2476 pts), Juliette Callau 11th (2443 pts). Elliot Moon came second place in the junior boys pentathlon with a score of 2411 pts. Qualifies for the English Schools Finals in Stoke in September along with the rest of the North Yorkshire team.
Alex Botterill ran his second fastest ever 800m time in Madrid as he ran 1.45.27.
In BMC races Gianluca Mastrolonardo ran two PBs in a week as he ran 1.54.53 in the 800m on Tuesday and 3.52.51 in the 1500m on the Saturday. Tommy Shaw narrowly missed a PB in the 1500m with 3.49.78 with Finnian Hutchinson running 4.00.86 and Lottie Langan 4.37.84.
Road Running
The penultimate race in the York 10k Road Race League took place on the hilly Bugthorpe course near Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night. Charlotte Grieve again dominated the women’s race to win by just over two minutes in a time of 36.52 to make it five wins in a row. Karen Wood was a long way clear in the vet 55 age group with a time of 44.27.
Michael Lambourne was the leading runner from the men’s side with 4th place in 34.26 as the men’s team achieved their best team position of the series with 6th place. The men’s vet 60s again did well with Steve Wright being 1st, Dave Lancaster 2nd and Jon Blake 4th.
Dave Lancaster was 2nd vet 65 in the Filey Beach 10k to Easingwold’s Colin Fletcher with India Ibbotson running 48.02 in the Run for all Leeds 10k.
Miles Watson ran 18.11 in Wednesday’s Leeds University 5k.
Parkrun
15 runners from the club did parkrun on Saturday. Dan Cheeseman came 1st at Darlington in 16.00 with Isabel Madden (20.16) and Imogen Brown (21.13) both coming 2nd at Selby and Dalby Forest respectively. There were veteran age group wins for Steve Wright, Dave Lancaster and Peter Hanson and a junior age group win for Wilson Moisey-Smith.
