Weekly Round up – w/e 30th June

Track and Field

Scott Lincoln won his 10th British title in a row as he dominated the shott putt competition in this year’s British Championships that were held at Manchester over the weekend. Scott’s winning throw of 20.81m was nearly three metres ahead of the 2nd placed athlete.

Chelsea Walker came 6th in the 400 metres hurdles with a time of 58.91s with Declan Neary coming 8th in the 3000m steeplechase in 8.57.73.

Alex Botterill found himself in by far the strongest heat in the 800m as he was up against world 800m bronze medalist Tim Pattison, world 1500m gold medalist, Josh Kerr and Halifax’s Max Burgin who came 2nd in the final. Unfortunately Josh Kerr edged out Alex by just 8/100ths of a second to push Alex into 4th place meaning he didn’t qualify for the final. Alex’s time of 1.46.12 would also have won the other two heats.

Rebecca Perry continued her return to the sport as she ran 12.13s in the 100m to come 6th in the heats.

Mark Cage ran 16.03.6 in a 5000m race at Nottingham on Friday.
