Cross Country
The club fielded 12 teams at the National Cross Country Relays that took place at Mansfield on Saturday.
The club’s senior men’s team ran well in a very competitive relay as they came 14th. Angus McMillan ran a typically good opening leg as he came 2nd in a time of 14.44 for the 5k course. The later legs of James Tucker, Tommy Shaw and Declan Neary then settled down into the mid teens for the remaining three legs. The senior men completed a B Team which came 58th overall and 9th B team. The club’s senior women’s team of Charlotte Grieve, Chrissie Dover and Maddie Mastrolonardo came 28th.
The highest position from the club’s junior teams was the under 15 girls team that came 9th. Led off by another excellent leg by Beth Lewis who came 2nd on the opening leg with Lucy Davey and Hannah Lovett consolidating the club’s top ten finish on the later legs. The under 15 girl’s fielded 3 teams with the B and C teams coming 33rd and 60th. The club’s under 20 women’s team came 20th with the under 20 men being one runner short of completing a team. The under 17 women came 14th with the men’s equivalent coming 26th. The under 15 boy’s team was 51st with the under 13 boy’s were 26th whilst the girl’s came 27th.
Parkrun
17 runners from the club did parkrun over the weekend. Lottie Langan came 1st on the Knavesmire in 17.48. There were 2nd places for Lucas Stabler (16.10 on the Knavesmire), Jack Ford (18.02 at Maryport) and India Ibbotson (22.38 at Chevin Forest). There were veteran age group wins for Steve Wright, Jon Blake, Allan Scott and Peter Hanson with junior age group wins for Ted Elwell, Josh Reid and Wilson-Moisey-Smith. Noah Stipetic and Marianne Lowson were the first two runners across the line in the York Junior parkrun.
