Weekly Round up – w/e 1st December

Cross Country Racing

25 juniors went to the PECO Cross Country at Pontefract Racecourse. There were 200 runners in the Primary Age race, with Leonardo Matusiak finishing 7th, Scarlet Bycroft 8th (2nd girl) and Harper Newcombe 4th girl.

With 150 in the secondary age race, James Bastow had a very good run to finish 7th, Wilson Moisey-Smith 15th his highest placing in this league, and George Ghosh 22nd. For the girls, Hannah Lovett was 5th, Lucy Davey 10th, Imogen Brown 13th. It is hard for the Year 7, running against up to Year 11 Boys, but we notice a particularly good result for Harriet Brown in 66th of the 150.

Really good that so many are willing to get out and race and gain experience of different types of course and race organisation. And with such large fields on narrow courses, they are gaining experience in starting fast and staying on their feet.

Road Racing

Dave Burlton ran 17.02 in the Leeds University 5k on Wednesday.

Parkrun

Angus McMillan ran the fastest parkrun in the country last weekend as he blasted up and down the disused railway line in Keswick to run 14.47. Chrissie Dover also took nearly half a minute off her own vet 45 parkrun club record as she ran 19.27 at Heslington. There were also first places for James Tucker, Jess Robertson-Dover and Tim Pattison with Marianne Lowson coming 1st in the York Junior Parkrun.
