It was great to see twenty City of York AC athletes in action at the Northern Indoor Senior / u20 /u17 Championships 2020 at Sheffield EIS. Joseph Edwards (60mh) Alfie Bugg (60m & LJ) Rebecca Lister (60m & LJ) Leah Atack (60m & SP) Natalya Aspinall (60m) Rob Shipley, Ben Schofield, Reece Middleton, Ben Whittaker, Edward Lake & Charlotte Stamp (all 400m) Ben Pearson and Maria Schofield (SP), Todd & Jonathan Sewell (SP) Ben Pearson Natalya Aspinall Ben Whitaker (200m) Carmen Brookes (200m & SP) Amy Rolfe (LJ) Isabelle Matique (HJ) Lily Horsfield (TJ) and Tommy Shaw (3000m) all acquitted themselves with pride in highly competitive fields. Alfie Bugg (silver), Ben Pearson (bronze) and Rob Sipley (silver) all achieved podium places on day 1 with Tommy Shaw joining them on day 2. We are all at the club are proud of the athletes and volunteers alike. We are also grateful to all at Northern Athletics for continuing to provide these outstanding competition opportunities and look forward to the under 15 and under 13 championships in a few weeks.
Well done to Charlotte Mason for coming 2nd in this morning’s popular Brass Monkey Half Marathon that is held in York. Charlotte took more than 3 minutes off her PB to run 1 hour 18 minutes as she finished just 16 seconds behind Leeds City’s Lorna Young. Ed Mezzetti (1.25), Tony George (1.49) and Sharon Langan (2.12) also ran.
Congratulations to Martha Calton Seal for her selection to represent the North of England in this World at the Stirling Cross Challenge XC International 2020. Martha finished in a superb 12th place in a high class field and helped ” The North ” to a fantastic 3rd place in the team event behind England & Scotland.
The club had a good turnout at the parkrun on the Knavesmire yesterday to help Wesley Possible celebrate completing his 200th parkrun. The club had the first 3 runners across the line as George Phillips came 1st in 16.39, Alex Dickinson 2nd in 16.48 and Gianluca Mastrolonardo 3rd in 17.30. Holly Moss was 4th female finisher in 21.29.
