10 runners from the club took part in the socially distanced road races that took place on Sunday at Elvington airfield. Runners set off in groups of 8 every 15 seconds for race distances from 5k up to the full marathon. Although the headwind was hard in the 2k finishing straight most road runners were just pleased to be racing again after 6 months with no competitive action.
Charlotte Mason and Sam Dickinson both ‘won’ their races. Sam made a rare appearance away from triathlons with 54.01 in the 10 mile event. Charlotte ran 37.20 to be comfortably the fastest female runner in the 10k with Ed Mezzetti 39.58, Ed Dunn 41.36, Mike Raynes 43.51 and Dave Paver 56.43 also completing the 10k event. The club had 4 runners taking part in the 5k with Amy Kennedy being the fastest junior runner with an impressive time of 20.44. William Chalk was the fastest from the club in the 5k with 20.20 with Karen Wood 22.48 and Annabelle Coxon 23.46 also running.
