Sam Dickinson ran the fastest ever 10k time by a member of the club on either the road or track as he did 30.02 in the Ribble Valley 10k that took place on Monday December 27th. For good measure Sam came 4th in the North of England Championships that were held in conjunction with the race. Wesley Possible also ran 44.12 in this race.
Nine of members took part in the Jolly Holly Jog 10k at Ripon that took place on Tuesday December 28th on a hilly and muddy course near Fountains Abbey. Despite having only just had her 15th birthday, Amy Kennedy came 10th in the senior women’s race in her first ever 10k. Nick Elliott was the first male runner from the club just ahead of Josh Breen. The times of our runners was as follows: Nick Elliott 43.06, Amy Kennedy 46.23, Josh Breen 44.04, Wesley Possible 52.56, James Richardson 55.18, Dave Paver 65.23, John Farrell 73.00, Val Jones 90.41 and Tony George 101.40.
15 members got into the festive spirit by completing parkruns on Christmas Day with first places for Tommy Shaw, Tim Stratton, William Keens and Charlotte Mason. Five days after breaking the club 10k record Sam Dickinson then broke the club record at parkrun by running 14.49 on the Knavesmire on New Year’s Day. Sam’s time took just over half a minute from the previous record by a club member at parkrun with only Leeds City’s Graham Rush and Jonathan Brownlee having run faster at the Knavesmire parkrun. Jessica Robertson-Dover just managed to get under 20 minutes with 19.59 at the same event. Daniel Campbell came 1st in the York Junior Parkrun in 6.46 which is the third quickest time on that course behind Lottie Langan and William Keens. In all 21 members of the club did parkruns on the New Year’s weekend.
