Weekly Round up – w/e 9th January includes the Yorkshire Cross Country Championships

Off Track Distance Races

The Club took home three individual and four team medals in Saturday’s Yorkshire Cross Country Championships that were held in Kiveton Park near Sheffield on a varied course that became muddy after being soaked by rain in the morning.

Lottie Langan was the only individual winner from the club as she won the under 15 girl’s race by 10 seconds from Rotherham’s Lilia Harris. Despite Amy Kennedy also coming 5th in the same race the team was beaten into 2nd place by a very strong Rotherham outfit that had five of the first eight finishers. The Under 15 boys team, led home by Isaac Stabler in 4th place, went one better in the team race by taking the gold medals. In the under 13 age group good packing from the girls saw them take home the bronze team medals whilst the boys were 6th team. In a very closely fought under 17 men’s team race the club came 3rd as just three points separated the first three teams.

Sam Dickinson took the bronze individual medal in the senior men’s race as he just finished ahead off his team mate Angus McMillan after they both fought a close battle with eventual winner Josh Dickinson from Leeds City and Hallamshire Harriers’ Andy Heyes for the overall title. In another good performance the team came 6th. Katy Wood was the highest placed finisher from the club in the senior women’s race as she came 5th which was enough to earn a county vest for the Inter Counties Championships in March.

The club also took four medals in the Humberside Cross Country Championships that were held in Hull on Saturday. There was a silver medal for Sophie Robertson-Dover (U15) and bronze medals for Chrissie Dover (Senior), Jessica Robertson-Dover (U17) and Katie-Anne Varga (U15).

With the County Cross Country Championships taking place this weekend only five of or members did parkrun with Nick Elliott (21.02) and Bethany Ellerker (31.13) being the fasted.
