Off Track Distance Races
The club had 55 juniors running in the North Yorkshire Schools Cross Country at Catterick on Saturday, (and will have others in the Humberside equivalent soon). After the hills and mud and rough ground of the Yorkshires the previous week, this race was flat and firm as the English Schools course is fairly flat this year. We had 4 winners in the 8 races, through Isaac Stabler, Lucas Stabler, Aimee Keefe and Lottie Langan, with Amy Kennedy 2nd and William Keens 3rd. Particularly pleasing and encouraging was the depth of our highly-placed runners, with 22 club members finishing in the top 10, and 33 in the top 15 which qualifies them to represent North Yorkshire in the Inter County match on 5 February.
After finishing 3rd in 2019 and 2nd in 2020, Charlotte Mason finally won the popular Brass Monkey Half Marathon that took place in York this morning. Charlotte won the race in a time of 78.10 which was a club record as well. The first male finisher from the club was Adam Bateman in 77.41. Seven other runners from the club completing the race with their times being: Ed Mezzetti (88.42), Wesley Possible (97.45), Ciaran Murray (104.10), Anna Cuthbertson (111.23), Hannah Slevin (112.44), James Richardson (112.51) and John Farrall (132.34).
With the North Yorkshire Schools Cross Country Championships and Brass Monkey Half Marathon taking place this weekend there were only nine runners taking part in parkrun this weekend. Holly Moss was the fastest from the club with 21.13 to come 3rd on a grass course on the Knavesmire. Nick Elliott also celebrated his 100th parkrun at this event.
