Weekly round up – w/e 6th March

Off track distance races

A small group went to the NYSD cross country league at Whitby, a lovely course and very nice running conditions.

The Under 11s is quite short and fast. Hannah Lovett had a great run to finish 4th. Brodie Barrow had a great sprint finish to overtake 4 in the last 100 metres and finish 10th, and Juliette Callau was 22nd in her first cross country race

The Under 13 and 15 courses are tough and include the memorable steep slippery climb. Aimee Keefe had an outstanding run to win by 27 seconds, and with great runs from Kate Setchell 6th, and Emily Rycroft 8th they won the team. Also good runs for Lydia Scott and Beth Ellerker to complete this tough course. For the boys Josh Velding 3rd, and Elliott Moon 6th both had great runs.

The Under 15 was even longer and harder – winning time of 17.20 is a minute longer than the recent National Cross Country. Very good runs for Eliza Loftus 10th, Liv Hardy 14th, Lucy Roddis 17th.

Dave Paver was 4th in the Over 65 Men race.

Dave Lancaster was the first Vet 60 in the Norton 9 miles race in a time of 64.52.

The club had 20 runners taking part in parkrun over the weekend. The club had the first two finishers at Easingwold with William Keens running 17.40 and Isaac Bastow 18.31. James Tucker came 1st at Heslington in 16.15 whilst Martha Sigsworth came 1st at Knaresborough in 24.13. Daniel Campbell had an easy win in the York junior parkrun in 6.44.
