Weekly Round up – w/e 8th May

Youth Development League Lower Age Group, First Match Result at York, Sunday May 8th – Harrogate 529.5 points, City of York 526 points, Hallamshire 422 points, Leeds City 398.5 points, Gateshead 351.5 points, Chesterfield 237.5 points.

The competition was very tight at the top throughout the day with Harrogate just pipping us by 3 ½ points. A big thank you to Parents, Grandparents and Officials for creating a great atmosphere with their support throughout the day.

Here are the outstanding performances from the day:

In the U15 boys competition Josh Sandwell ran a 2:10.74 PB in the 800m to finish in first place. In the U13 boys competition Sebastian Ward won the 75m, long jump and high jump on his first appearance for CoYAC.

The U15 girls performed consistently well across the whole team as did the U13 girls with 12.00 seconds for the 70m hurdles from Carys Francis being the standout performance. This ranks her joint second in the UK for this event.

The next YDL Lower match is on Saturday 21 May at South Leeds Stadium.

The club staged a successful invitational meeting on Wednesday night with the money raised going to the Millie Wright Children’s Charity.

Off Track Distance Races

Josh Breen ran 1.27.46 in Sunday’s Leeds Half Marathon.

The club had 17 runners doing parkrun this weekend. Lucas Stabler came 1st on the Knavesmire in 16.16. Chrissie Dover came 1st at Heslington in 21.25 and Lydia Scott 3rd in 22.26. with Gianluca Mastrolonardo coming 2nd at the same parkrun in 16.04. Kaitlin Keens came 2nd at Easingwold in 24.54.
