Track and Field

The Yorkshire Track and Field Championships took place at Cudworth over the weekend. Many of our athletes took part and won many medals. A full report will appear here later in the week.

Katy Wood took over 2 minutes from the club 10000m record as she ran a very impressive 34.00.86 at Highgate in London as part of the popular Night of the 10k PBs meeting. Katy came 2nd in the B race at the event. Angus McMillan ran 14.13.30 for 5000m at the BMC meeting in Birmingham. This was a personal best time that was just 3 seconds outside the club record for the distance.

Off Track distance races

The second race in the York 10K Road Race League took place at Tadcaster last Tuesday night with 18 runners from the club taking part.

The men’s team matched their 5th place from the first race at Pocklington. Alex Dickinson led the team home in 4th place with 34.24 with Alex Bateman next across the line in 35.14 for 11th place. The other members of the team were Steve Asquith (18th in 36.17), Ben Thompson (41st in 38.20), Nick Elliott (73rd in 40.09) and Steve Wright (85th in 41.01).

The club only had three women running on the night which meant that we couldn’t complete a team. Angharad Pryce was 1st home for the club in 43.15 for 13th place. Karen Wood (22nd in 45.25) and Anna Cuthbertson (62nd in 52.52) were the other two runners from the club that ran.In the Veteran categories, Steve Wright was once again 1st Vet 60 with Karen Wood 3rd in the Vet 45 age group.

The next race in the League is at Easingwold on May 24th.

The club had 15 runners taking part in parkrun over the weekend. Steve Asquith was a comfortable winner at Heslington in 17.15 whilst William Keens again won in Easingwold in 17.57. Kaitlin Keens was 2nnd at Easingwold in 21.40 just 2 seconds behind the winner.
